The History of Faith Life Worship Center

AWCThe year was 1926 when a series of gospel tent meetings were held in Avon by traveling ministers.  Signs and wonders followed the preaching of the word of God including believers being baptized in the Holy Spirit and speaking in other tongues.  The Bible came alive in this small island community and Avon was forever changed.  Meetings were held in peoples homes and God continued to fulfill His word "In the last days, God says, I will pour out of my Spirit on all people." (Acts 2:17a)  It was a time of great excitement.  God had never seemed so real, so close, so touchable.  Avon Worship Center was born by the will of God out of these meetings.

Twelve men under the direction of the Holy Spirit, met and among themselves raised $1,500 to begin construction of a church building.  The Avon Pentecostal Church, as it was then known, conducted its first services in their new building in 1931.  God continued to bless and a solid vibrant church was established.

In the early 1930's it was decided that the church would affiliate with the Assemblies of God, a young pentecostal denomination.  This process was completed and the Avon Pentecostal Church became the Avon Assembly of God.

The church building was moved to its present location in the early 1950's.

In the 1970's the church name was changed to Avon Worship Center.

On January 1st, 2015, Avon Worship Center became Faith Life Worship Center.  Since then, we have undergone a complete renovation of the church facilities and a new branding campaign.

God has graced us with a very rich and exciting journey.  A solid foundation has been laid by our forefathers.  The church, which is the people of Faith Life Worship Center, continue to press on knowing that our mission is not complete.  The gospel of Jesus Christ and life in the fullness of the Holy Spirit is relevant for today.

The journey continues...
